Collectibles and memorabilia represent one of the most distinctive challenges in eCommerce advertising – and one of the highest-intent buyer categories on Google.
When a buyer searches "signed Tiger Woods Masters golf ball PSA authenticated", they are not browsing. They know what they want, they've likely been looking for a while, and they are prepared to pay a premium for the right item. The conversion intent is as high as any category on the platform.
The problem is that standard Google Ads campaign architecture wasn't built for products that can't be aggregated into keyword lists. This article explains the approach that works for collectibles and memorabilia resellers.
Why standard keyword campaigns fail for collectibles
Traditional Google Ads methodology starts with keyword research: identify high-volume, high-intent terms and bid on them. For collectibles, this breaks down immediately because:
- Many of your best items have zero search volume – nobody searches for a specific autographed jersey before they know it exists
- Buyer vocabulary is unpredictable – the same signed item might be searched as "autographed", "signed", "inscribed", "hand-signed", with authentication references, with player career years, with specific grading services
- Catalogue turnover is continuous – what you have in stock today differs from what you had last month; static keyword lists become stale immediately
The solution is dynamic ad architecture – campaigns that adapt to your live catalogue rather than requiring manual management of every item.
Dynamic Search Ads: the core tool for collectibles
Dynamic Search Ads are the most effective campaign type for collectibles resellers. Rather than requiring you to predict every search query, DSAs crawl your website and automatically generate ads based on page content – showing ads for the specific items in your current inventory to users searching relevant terms.
For collectibles, DSAs capture:
- Specific player + item combinations ("Kobe Bryant signed jersey", "Babe Ruth autographed baseball")
- Authentication-specific queries ("PSA authenticated memorabilia", "Beckett certified autograph")
- Sport + category combinations ("signed NFL helmet", "authenticated NBA card", "MMA championship belt replica")
- Entertainment collectibles ("original movie prop", "signed movie poster", "screen-used costume")
These long-tail queries are the heart of the collectibles buyer journey. DSAs find them automatically.
Feed-only PMax for collectibles with Shopping presence
For items that can be listed as Google Shopping products (standardised items, authenticated cards, officially licensed memorabilia), Feed-Only Performance Max provides distribution across Google's full network.
Feed configuration for collectibles requires careful attention to:
- Unique identifiers: Many collectibles don't have standard GTINs/MPN codes. Configure feeds to use custom IDs and suppress GTIN requirements where not applicable.
- Condition field: Use "used" or "refurbished" correctly for pre-owned authenticated items – this affects Shopping eligibility and buyer expectations
- Description depth: Detailed descriptions including authentication source, condition grade, certificate number, and player/event details improve relevance for niche queries
The remarketing imperative for high-ticket collectibles
Collectibles are high-consideration purchases. A buyer researching a $1,500 autographed jersey doesn't convert on the first visit. They compare, verify authentication, check the seller's reputation, and return.
Remarketing is not optional for collectibles resellers – it's where a significant portion of revenue is captured.
WeAdU's remarketing structure for collectibles:
Tier 1 – Product page visitors (72-hour recency): Highest intent, shown the exact item they viewed. Bid premium justified.
Tier 2 – Category page visitors (7-day recency): Browsed a category without viewing specific items. Shown best-performing items in that category.
Tier 3 – Past purchasers (180 days): Collectors buy repeatedly. Past buyers are your best prospects for new acquisitions. Show new arrivals in the categories they've purchased from before.
Tier 4 – Email list remarketing (Customer Match): Your email subscriber list – especially subscribers who have browsed but not purchased – is a high-value remarketing audience. Upload to Google Ads for cross-device targeting.
Authentication as an ad signal
For authenticated collectibles, authentication status is a purchase signal that should appear in ad copy, Shopping product titles, and landing page content.
Buyers who care about authentication are the buyers with the highest purchase intent and lowest price sensitivity. Ads that prominently feature "PSA Authenticated", "Beckett Certified", or "JSA Witnessed" self-select for this high-value segment.
Make authentication visible at every touchpoint.
