What is an unavailable product page?
WeAdU · Updated 3 October 2026
An unavailable product page, in Google Merchant Center, is a landing page Google cannot open. While that page stays unreachable, the product stops serving: it is not an out-of-stock status.
How is this different from an unavailable item?
While that page stays unreachable, the product stops serving. It is not an out-of-stock status. Stockouts are declared separately, in the availability attribute. "Out of stock", in that attribute, covers a stockout or a stop on orders. The landing page must show the same thing as the feed. An address Google cannot open is a different case. A correct GTIN, or a correct MPN, does not make the page reachable.
Which addresses does the help name?
The help pages read on 3 October 2026 do not name the same addresses. One cites the link, the link template or the mobile link, and speaks of ads and free listings. Another, at the start, cites only the link template, and speaks of Shopping ads. If the crawl fails on one device, a third page disapproves the item for both, until the page opens. None of these wordings is picked in order to erase the others: all four pages are cited.
What blocks the page from opening?
The lists of causes diverge as well, and they are left divergent. Page not found, too many redirects, a server that does not respond, a hostname that does not resolve, an address outside the protocol or outside the claimed domain, an unreachable robots.txt. The crawl page adds a block on Googlebot and Googlebot-image, authentication, a firewall or a geographic restriction, including from the United States. The time frames on these pages diverge. They are not copied here.
Why not fix the wrong field?
The distinction avoids fixing the wrong field. Changing availability in the feed, or filling in a product identifier, does not replace a page the crawl cannot open. The other way around, a page that opens can still announce a stockout: that is what the availability attribute says, and the page must match the feed. Across these four pages, the help does not give one closed list of addresses or one closed list of blocks. The definition kept here is therefore narrow: an unavailable product page is an unreachable destination, not an item that is out of stock.
What does the WeAdU audit cover?
All our audits cover Google Ads only. This entry separates an unreachable address from a stockout. It does not describe a fix procedure, and it does not promise that the product will serve again.
