What is shipping in Merchant Center?
WeAdU · Updated 5 October 2026
In Merchant Center, the shipping attribute `[shipping]` gives the cost and the time to deliver a product. The product price has its own attribute.
What does it not name?
Shipping covers what it costs to get the product to the customer and how long it takes. The price, already defined, is what the customer pays for the item. The sale price is the amount during a promotion. A custom label follows the merchant's grid, and the feed label picks the source. Account-level shipping settings in Merchant Center may already include a cost. This attribute is for when they are missing, or when one row needs to override them.

What does the help require?
According to the help page read on 15 October 2026, you submit this attribute based on cost, delivery speed, and destination countries. The country sub-attribute is required. If you submit a delivery area, use only one of region, postal code, location id, or location group name. The service sub-attribute lets you tell apart two options for the same place. The price sub-attribute is the shipping cost, not the product price. Delivery speed is split into handling time `[handling_time]`, from the order to the handoff to the carrier, and transit time `[transit_time]`, from the carrier to the customer.
If the shipping price sub-attribute is submitted, the help says the account service settings are ignored for the matching location, including delivery times and the minimum order value. You then have to send them again at product level. The cost includes any charge whose name mentions handling, delivery, shipping, logistics, or carrier, plus the insurance that goes with them. Match what the customer pays, or overestimate it, though the help warns that overestimating too much can hurt performance. For Shopping ads and free listings, a cost is required in the countries the help names. The list itself is on that page.
When does one row replace the account?
In a multi-brand file, an item that is bulky, fragile, or on a different carrier rate from the account can carry its own shipping. The other rows stay on the account setting. Keep the shipping charge out of the price and the title. For the item amount itself, see the price entry, linked below.
