What are returns in Merchant Center?
WeAdU · Updated 5 October 2026
In Merchant Center, return policies describe what the merchant accepts back, for Shopping ads and free listings. The return policy label attribute `[return_policy_label]` applies a policy other than the default to one product or to a group of products.
What do they not cover?
The price, already defined, is what the customer pays for the item. Shipping, already defined, is the delivery cost and the delivery time. Returns are neither. Condition says whether the product is new, refurbished or used. The label is not the policy wording. That wording is set on the account, and the label only names an exception.

What does the help require?
According to the help pages read on 31 October 2026, return information can go with the product data for Shopping ads and free listings. The first policy created in the account is the default. The return policy label `[return_policy_label]` is optional and applies another policy to one product or to a group. If it is empty, the default policy applies. The help cites a 14-day window for electronics, by category or by season. A length limit on the help page is not copied here.
The setup page, read the same day, places these policies in the account, beside shipping. They can cover one country or several. The account can accept returns of defective and non-defective products, of defective products only, or none. The website must show return and refund terms without a sign-in, including a change of mind. With one policy, the file can stay unchanged, or every row can use the value default. With several policies, default rows stay blank or use that value, and an exception carries the label created for it. Google checks the policy before use: approved, still in review, or not approved. A checked upload takes precedence over a policy read from the website.
Where does the label go in a file of several brands?
In a file that mixes several brands, most rows can stay on the default policy. A row that cannot be returned, or that must come back sooner, carries its own label. Do not put that label in the title, the description or the price. The price entry, linked below, is the amount paid for the item. The shipping entry is the cost and the time to deliver.
Where is the catalogue already described?

What does the WeAdU audit cover?
On the homepage, read on 5 October 2026: "The free audit covers Google Ads only." No Google Ads account figure here.
