What is the title in Merchant Center?
WeAdU · Updated 5 October 2026
In Merchant Center, the title attribute `[title]` is the name of the product as it appears on the landing page. Brand, description, and promotional copy each belong somewhere else.
What does it not name?
Shoppers see this name on the ad and on the free listing. The brand attribute names the manufacturer, and the description is where the detail lives. Google product category and product type are how the offer is classified. A custom label follows the merchant's grid, while the feed label chooses the source.

What does the help require?
On the help page read on 13 October 2026, every product needs a title, and that title describes the product on the landing page. The wording in the file and the wording on the page can differ, provided they name the same product. Each variant has to stand out in the title, and the same detail also goes in color, size, or age group when those attributes exist. A detail with no attribute of its own, such as a flavour, stays in the title.
Price, sale price, sale dates, shipping, a delivery date, and the company name stay out of the title and go in their own attributes. Capitals and symbols are refused when they are there to catch the eye, and HTML is refused with them. A title written with generative AI is sent as a structured title `[structured_title]`: the digital source type is `trained_algorithmic_media`, and the text goes in the content sub-attribute. If both the title and the structured title are submitted, only the title is kept.
When does the shown title change?
Google may rebuild a title from the landing page, the images, and other signals, so the ad matches the search more closely. If the title already does that as well as it can, it stays as sent. That rebuild is not presented here as a WeAdU setting. When the catalogue holds several brands and the brand is what sets the product apart, the brand name goes in the title. The brand attribute, already published, remains the place for the manufacturer name. The description entry, linked below, adds the detail. This entry names the product.
Where is the catalogue already described?

What does the WeAdU audit cover?
On the homepage, read on 5 October 2026: "The free audit covers Google Ads only." No Google Ads account figure here.
