What is the availability attribute in Merchant Center?
WeAdU · Updated 5 October 2026
The availability attribute [availability] says, in Merchant Center, whether the product can be ordered. The help read on 5 October 2026 makes it required for every product, and the data source must follow the site.
What does it not name?
It is not an unreachable page, not a feed label, and not a custom label. The label sorts products in the file. The feed label chooses the source.

Which values does the help accept?
The help read on 5 October 2026 accepts four values, kept distinct. Preorder and backorder require [availability_date]. That date is readable on the landing page.
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| In stock [in_stock] | Orders accepted, and they can be fulfilled |
| Out of stock [out_of_stock] | Orders stopped, or the product is not for sale |
| Preorder [preorder] | Orders accepted for a new product not yet released |
| Backorder [backorder] | Orders accepted, shipment when it returns |
How is an unreachable page different?
The published page on the unavailable product page separates a page Google cannot open from a stockout. The stockout is declared in this attribute. The landing page, checkout and the data source must agree, or the product is disapproved. Each variant follows its own line on the page.
How do you stop a product without declaring a stockout?
If the page says "in stock", the value "out of stock" is not how you silence the product. The help names [excluded_destination] and [pause]. Shopping ads can stop while free listings stay. What is no longer sold leaves the source. It is not left as "out of stock" instead.
Where is the catalogue already described?
Homepage, Automate step, read on 5 October 2026: "Daily product classification, custom label updates, and feed maintenance." The label sorts. The feed label chooses the source. The Performance Max structure article linked below remains the catalogue source. This entry does not rewrite it.
What does the WeAdU audit cover?
On the homepage, read on 5 October 2026: "The free audit covers Google Ads only." No Google Ads account figure here.
